Kate Bloomquist is Assistant Director & Teaching Professor of College Writing. She holds a PhD from Washington University in St. Louis (2012) in American Literature, with a Certificate in the Teaching of College Writing. At the 2018 First-Year Finale, Dr. Bloomquist received the Outstanding Writing Instructor award, as decided by first-year students. She has also taught courses in research, literature and US women writers. In the summer, Dr. Bloomquist teaches in the Arts & Sciences Pre-College Program for high school students, with Creative Immersion Institute & Personal Narrative courses.
When she's not reading and writing with WashU students, Dr. Bloomquist enjoys spending time in Forest Park, running, and experiencing the natural world in Michigan.
